Hormone Therapy

Hormone Therapy, also known as androgen deprivation therapy (ADT), is an essential treatment approach for prostate cancer. It works by reducing or blocking the body’s production of male hormones (androgens), particularly testosterone, which fuels the growth of prostate cancer cells. At KIMS Renal Sciences, we offer advanced hormone therapy as part of a comprehensive treatment plan for patients with prostate cancer.

This Therapy is typically recommended for patients with advanced or recurrent prostate cancer, or in combination with radiation therapy for localized cases. It can be administered through medications that stop testosterone production or block its effects, or in some cases, through surgical removal of the testicles (orchiectomy).

Our specialists tailor hormone therapy based on the stage of cancer, patient age, overall health, and treatment goals. While hormone therapy is not a cure, it plays a crucial role in controlling the disease, shrinking tumors, and relieving symptoms such as bone pain.

Patients undergoing hormone therapy at KIMS are closely monitored for side effects, which may include hot flashes, fatigue, reduced libido, and bone thinning. Our multidisciplinary team supports patients with personalized care, nutritional guidance, and physical therapy to help manage these effects and maintain quality of life.
